LUCKNOW: A woman murdered her husband with the help of her paramour and tried to dispose of the body by chopping it into two pieces and stuffing it into a trolley bag in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria. The crime bears chilling resemblance to the Saurabh murder case in Meerut.
The victim, 38-year-old Naushad Ahmed, had returned from Dubai just 10 days ago. His dismembered body was discovered on Sunday morning by a farmer in a field under the Tarkulwa police station area, approximately 55 kilometers from his residence in Bhatauli village, Mail police station limits.
The discovery was made when Jitendra Giri, a local farmer, arrived at his field in Chakarpakdi Chapar Patkhauli village with a harvester and noticed a suspicious trolley bag lying nearby in a vacant plot. He immediately informed the police via Dial 112.

Should the authorities prioritize arresting the paramour in this case?

Upon arrival, Tarkulwa police cordoned off the area, and senior officials including ASP Arvind Verma and CO City Sanjay Reddy reached the scene with a dog squad and forensic team.
"When the bag was opened, police found a male torso wrapped in plastic inside. The lower half of the body had been stuffed into a sack. A foreign SIM card, photocopied documents, and a travel barcode bearing an airport tag helped confirm the deceased’s identity as Naushad Ahmed," said additional superintendent of police, Arvind Verma.
Further investigation led the police to Naushad’s residence, where they discovered another suitcase stained with blood.
This indicated that the accused initially tried to fit the body in that suitcase but resorted to the trolley bag after failing.
Naushad’s wife, Raziya, was taken into custody for questioning.
"Under sustained interrogation, she confessed to the murder, revealing that she and her lover—her nephew by relation—killed Naushad as he was becoming an obstacle in their illicit relationship," said ASP Verma.
According to police sources, the extramarital affair had been a subject of village gossip for some time.
About a year ago, Naushad had confronted the couple and a village panchayat was held, wherein it was decided that Raziya would sever ties with her lover. However, the relationship resumed after Naushad returned to Dubai.
Locals described Naushad as a kind and tolerant man who had even forgiven his wife after discovering her affair.
His father, Mannu Ahmed, broke down in tears and demanded the harshest punishment for Raziya, while the couple’s daughter Atifa expressed deep shame over her mother’s actions.
ASP Arvind Verma confirmed that Naushad’s murder was driven by his wife's extramarital relationship. “The accused woman has confessed, and multiple police teams, including the district SOG, have been deployed to arrest her absconding lover,” Verma said. Forensic teams have collected key evidence from the scene.
Police are now on the lookout for the paramour, who remains at large.
