NEW DELHI: Kerala chief minister
Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday rejected the allegations made by Left independent MLA P V Anvar.
Vijayan stated that the accusations were intended to tarnish the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and his government.
Anvar, a day earlier, had criticized Vijayan and announced his departure from the Left Front.
He declared his intention by stating, "he made his intention clear by his statements.
He clearly announced he was keeping away from the LDF and will not attend its parliamentary party meeting in the state assembly."
Vijayan addressed the allegations, asserting, "I am rejecting the allegations made by him against the party, LDF, and the government. It was part of an attempt to malign and defame the LDF and the government."
The accusations from Anvar align with claims made by the opposition. However, Vijayan emphasized that Anvar's statements would not impact ongoing investigations related to these complaints.
Anvar had accused Vijayan of misleading the public and demanded that the chief minister relinquish the home department portfolio.
He also called for a reinvestigation into around 180 gold smuggling cases, suggesting that the police did not follow proper procedures in seizing gold from carriers.
Anvar's criticism included calling Vijayan a 'cheat' and alleging that the CPI(M) had not honored prior assurances concerning his complaints against ADGP M R Ajithkumar and the CM's political secretary P Sasi.
