Foo Fighters, one of the most popular rock bands, recently saw a major drawback in their lineup as drummer Josh Freese left the band. However, according to recent reports, it has been revealed that the drummer did not leave and was, in fact, fired from the band. The musician claimed that the band contacted him and just told him that they want "to go in a different direction".
Josh Freese breaks his silence
The drummer, who had been working with the band for the past two years, shared the news online and took to his social media accounts to share the news with fans. The drummer shared that he was suddenly contacted on Monday this week about the change and was not even presented with a reason as to why he was getting booted from the group.
As he shared the news, Freese shared no hard feelings towards the band. In his social media post, he shared, “Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.”
“In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I’ve never been let go from a band. So while I’m not angry, just a bit shocked and disappointed. But as most of you know, I’ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands, so I’m fine,” Freese said.
He took the news with a light heart, as shared in his post, and even joked with the fans of the group about sharing reasons as to why he thinks that he was booted from the group.
Celebrities react to unfortunate news
While fans were, of course, sad about Freese’s circumstances, even fellow celebrities came forward to show support to the drummer and express their sadness over the matter online. The drummer of the group Dream Theatre, Mike Portnoy, took to the online post and commented, “Damn… I’m shocked! You seemed to be the perfect fit!!”
Actor, writer, and producer Wendi McLendon-Covey, known for her role in ‘The Goldbergs’, also shared her surprise and support for the drummer. She commented, “WTF?????? But hey, you’ll always be fine…. And you might actually be dodging a bullet. Love to you and your family!”
The drummer took over the drumming in Foo Fighters two years ago after their previous drummer,
Taylor Hawkins, tragically passed away in 2022. He has worked with various major names in the music industry, such as Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, and A Perfect Circle.
