Actors face pressure, scrutiny, and uncertainty in the industry: Experts

Actors often deal with a range of challenges, including intense competition, public scrutiny, and mental health concerns, say industry experts.
The uncertainty of consistent work, long hours on set, and the emotional demands of playing complex roles can take a toll. Newcomers, in particular, face added pressure to prove themselves in a crowded field.
Myraa Sareen, who recently made her debut in Riwaj on ZEE5, spoke about the emotional intensity of her role. “Being part of Riwaj has been an incredible journey. The way people are connecting with my character is truly overwhelming,” she said.
Casting director Shruti Mahajan notes that auditions can be draining. “Actors face rejection regularly. It’s not easy to keep going when the results are uncertain,” she said.
