Bail or extended custody? Legal trouble deepens for Bigg Boss Kannada fame Vinay Gowda and Rajath Kishen

The legal woes of Bigg Boss Kannada contestants Rajat Kishan and Vinay Gowda have intensified following their controversial reel featuring a machete. On the night of March 25, the police escorted both individuals to the residence of the 24th ACJM judge in Koramangala, where they were remanded to one-day judicial custody. The incident has sparked widespread attention, with new developments emerging as investigations progress.
After the court order, Rajat and Vinay were transferred to Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru, where they spent the night in judicial custody. The duo’s legal troubles could worsen, as authorities suspect a deliberate attempt to mislead investigators during the probe. Rajat’s wife, Akshita, was seen in tears as her husband was escorted away.
Both accused are set to appear in court again today (March 26), with police expected to request a one-week police custody remand for further questioning. Investigators are focusing on locating the missing machete used in the viral reel, which has added a layer of complexity to the case.
The controversy erupted after Rajat and Vinay filmed a reel featuring a machete during the Boys vs Girls reality show. The video, which went viral on social media, prompted authorities to intervene due to concerns over the use of a real weapon. During questioning, the duo allegedly handed over a fiber-made mace instead of the real machete, raising suspicions of an attempt to mislead the investigation.
The police have launched a search operation to locate the original weapon, as the accused have not been able to provide its whereabouts. Reports suggest that Rajat and Vinay may have intentionally concealed the machete, further complicating their legal situation.
Before his arrest, Rajat Kishan issued a statement defending his actions:
"I made the reels for Vinay as an artist. It wasn't intended for any wrongdoing. The machete used in the reel was sent from the set, but since we were with the police, we weren’t aware of which one was sent. We later found out the original one was missing. I had no intention of misleading the police. If a prop is missing, we will return it. This was a misunderstanding."
Despite his explanation, the missing weapon and allegations of misleading authorities have escalated the matter.
Both Rajat and Vinay are expected to file for bail today, but the outcome remains uncertain. The court’s decision on their bail and the police’s custody extension request will play a pivotal role in determining the next steps in the investigation.
