India boasts of some grand forts that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These forts are stunning, ancient and hold immense historical significance. A look at India seven world heritage forts:

Amer Fort, Rajasthan
Amber Fort in Jaipur is a marvellous architectural beauty which was built by Raja Man Singh I in the 16th century. The fort, overlooking Maota Lake, was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.

Chittorgarh Fort, Rajasthan
Chittorgarh Fort, set on top of a hill, was also designated a UNESCO site in 2013. It is also among the largest forts in India, spread across 700 acres.

The Red Fort in Delhi is an iconic symbol of India’s history. It was designated as a UNESCO site in 2007.

Gagron Fort, Rajasthan
Gagron Fort was built between the 7th and 14th centuries. It is a rare example of a “Jal Durg” (water fort) and was designated a UNESCO site in 2013.
