Laura Loomer has blasted
Bill Maher’s reported visit to the White House, calling it a “massive slap in the face” to Trump’s most loyal supporters. The right-wing activist took to X to voice her outrage, questioning why the liberal comedian—who has mocked Trump and his base for years—was now being welcomed into the president’s inner circle. Loomer, who is currently suing Maher over defamatory claims, accused Trump’s staff of failing to vet White House guests properly, arguing that disloyalty was being rewarded while true MAGA allies were shut out.
“The fact that Bill Maher is visiting the White House to meet with President @realDonaldTrump is insane in my opinion,” Loomer posted on X. “For years, Bill Maher has viciously attacked President Trump and spread lies about him and his supporters.” She also accused Maher of attempting to damage her reputation, referencing an ongoing lawsuit against him over alleged defamatory claims. “Maher tried to Monica Lewinsky me and spread disgusting defamatory lies about me out of his Trump hatred.”
Loomer’s frustration extends beyond Maher’s visit, claiming that Trump’s staff prioritises those who have been disloyal over his most dedicated supporters. “If you attacked Trump or were disloyal to him, that’s actually the fastest way to get a job in the White House and visit him,” she wrote. “Disloyalty is rewarded by many of President Trump’s staff who allow him to be surrounded by some of his most vicious enemies.”
Maher’s meeting with Trump has been arranged by Kid Rock, who has been a vocal supporter of the president, Fox News Digital reported. Explaining his motivation, Kid Rock said, “I’m actually going to try to unite this country. And I’m starting the end of the month taking Bill Maher to the White House for dinner.” He added that while Maher has consistently criticised Trump, the two could still find common ground. “He’s actually more reasonable than a lot of people on the right would think.”
Maher, a long-time critic of Trump, has repeatedly dismissed the Trump's chances in elections and mocked his policies. Prior to the 2024 election, Maher predicted that Vice President Kamala Harris would win, claiming, “Trump’s followers’ hearts will not be in it like in 2020.” He also criticised Trump administration as “aggressively anti-common sense” and frequently joked about the president’s ideas, including his comments about Greenland and Canada.
Trump, in turn, has not held back against Maher, previously calling him “obnoxious and disgusting” and urging Fox News to stop airing his segments. “I seldom watch Low Rated Bill Maher but, when I do, I marvel at the fake laughter on the show,” Trump posted on Truth Social last year. “It’s so obnoxious and disgusting, just like him.”
Despite their history of mutual disdain, Maher defended his decision to meet Trump, arguing that refusing to engage in dialogue is counterproductive. “There will be lots of people on the left who will be like, ‘How dare you talk to this man.’ It’s like f— you, I’m not playing this game that you mean girls play,” Maher said on his “Club Random” podcast.
