IPL 2025: Traffic curbs in Bengaluru ahead of RCB vs KKR match at Chinnaswamy Stadium

Bangalore Traffic Police have released traffic advisory for the RCB vs KKR IPL match on May 17, from 3 PM to 11 PM. Parking restrictions are in place on key roads like MG Road and Cubbon Road, with designated parking at St. Joseph’s Indian School Ground and UB City.

NEW DELHI: The Bangalore Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL match scheduled at Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 17.The advisory, effective from 3pm to 11pm, outlines parking restrictions, designated parking areas, and entry-exit points to ensure smooth traffic flow during the event.

Roads with no parking zones

Motorists are advised to avoid the following stretches, where parking will be strictly prohibited:
  • Queens Road (Balekundri Circle to Queens Circle, both sides)

  • MG Road (Anil Kumble Circle to Queens Circle, both sides)

  • Link Road from MG Road to Cubbon Road

  • Raj Bhavan Road, T. Chowdaiah Road, and Race Course Road

  • Central Street (both sides)

  • Cubbon Road (C.T.O. Circle to Dickenson Road, both sides) – Note: Only BMTC buses are allowed; all other vehicles are banned between Kamaraja Road and Dickenson Road

  • St. Marks Road (Cash Pharmacy to Anil Kumble Circle)

  • Museum Road (MG Road to St. Marks Road and Ashirvadam Circle)

  • Kasturba Road (Queens Circle to Hudson Circle), including Mallya Hospital Road

  • Lavelle Road (Queens Circle to Vittal Mallya Road)

  • Vittal Mallya Road (Siddalingaiah Circle to Bishop Cotton Girls School)

  • No parking is allowed inside Cubbon Park, Kings Road, in front of the Press Club, and on Bal Bhavan Road up to Fountain Junction.

Designated parking spaces for public

Given the limited parking near the stadium, authorities urge the public to use public transport such as BMTC buses and the Namma Metro. However, limited parking is available at:
  • St. Joseph’s Indian School Ground

  • UB City Parking Lot

  • 1st Floor of BMTC Depot at Shivajinagar Bus Stand

  • For KSCA Members: St. Joseph’s European School on Museum Road

  • Police personnel on duty can use the Old KGID Building parking facility

Entry and exit gates at Chinnaswamy Stadium

To avoid overcrowding and confusion, spectators are advised to use the designated entry and exit gates:
  • Gates 1–6: Entry via Cubbon Road

  • Gates 7–11: Entry via Link Road (from Anil Kumble Circle and BRV Circle)

  • Gates 12–21: Entry via Queens Road

Ola & Uber pickup/drop points

Ride-hailing services have been allocated specific pick-up and drop zones:
  • Raj Bhavan Junction – Pickup: 12.98086°N, 77.59735°E

  • Cubbon Road (near BRV Ground) – Pickup: Gate No. 6 (12.9794°N, 77.60162°E)

  • Drop-off at Cubbon Park Metro (12.98086°N, 77.596993°E) and Gate No. 6 (12.97978°N, 77.60041°E)
The traffic police have urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with authorities to avoid inconvenience. They’ve also encouraged the use of metro and BMTC buses for smoother transit on match day.
